Bazet ( Occitan : Badèth ) is a French commune in the Hautes-Pyrénées department in the Occitanie region (previously Midi-Pyrénées ). It is located in the Arrondissement of Tarbes and belongs to the canton of Bordères-sur-l'Échez .

Bazet has 1748 inhabitants (as of January 1, 2017) on 2.84 square kilometers and is about 6.5 kilometers north of Tarbes in the Bigorre on the Adour . The former Route nationale 135 runs through the municipality. The river also feeds the small Lac de Bours in the east of the municipality.

Trivia

The Boostec company in Bazet built the Herschel space telescope with EADS Astrium and supplied the silicon carbide blanks for the mirrors of the Gaia mission .
