Camalès is a French commune with 384 inhabitants (as of January 1, 2017) in the Hautes-Pyrénées department in the Occitania region (before 2016: Midi-Pyrénées ). The municipality belongs to the Arrondissement of Tarbes and the canton of Vic-en-Bigorre .

The inhabitants are called Camalèsiens and Camalèsiennes .

Camalès is located about 14 kilometers north of Tarbes in its catchment area ( Aire urbaine ) in the historic province of Bigorre on the northwestern edge of the department.

Camalès is surrounded by the five neighboring municipalities:

Population development

After records began, the population rose to a peak of around 565 by the first half of the 19th century. In the following period, the size of the community fell to around 280 with brief recovery phases up to the 1930s, before an overall upward trend with at times greater fluctuations began, which continues to this day.
