Mairie Jacque

Jacque ( Occitan : Jaca ) is a French commune with 74 inhabitants (as of January 1, 2017) in the Hautes-Pyrénées department in the Occitania region (until 2015 Midi-Pyrénées ). It belongs to the Arrondissement of Tarbes and to the community association Les Coteaux du Val d'Arros, founded in 2017 .

geography

Jacque is located in the Bigorre on the northwestern edge of the Lannemezan plateau , about 17 kilometers northeast of Tarbes . With an area of 187 hectares, the very small municipality extends between the two rivers Ruisseau Lanénos and Arros , which run parallel to the north and border the municipality to the west and east. In between lies the village of Jacque on the ridge of a long range of hills, which in the north reaches the highest point at 295 m above sea level and is thus 100 meters above the Arros bank. The river valleys form fertile arable landscapes. Remnants of alluvial forests have been preserved along the rivers; the slopes of the range of hills are forested. The hamlets of Le Bédat and Le Bois belong to the municipality . Jacque is surrounded by the neighboring communities of Laméac in the north, Chelle-Debat in the east, Marseillan in the south, Bouilh-Péreuilh in the west and Peyrun in the northwest.

Place name

The village first appears in 1313 as de Iaqua in a document. The name developed over de Jaqua (1342), Jaque (1429), Iaque (1736) and again Jaque at the end of the 18th century on a Cassini card , before the spelling Jacque was established from 1801 , which is still permanent today proved.
