Aubarède is a French commune with 297 inhabitants (as of January 1, 2017) in the Hautes-Pyrénées department in the Occitanie region (before 2016: Midi-Pyrénées ). The municipality belongs to the Arrondissement of Tarbes and the canton of Les Coteaux (until 2015: canton of Pouyastruc ).
The inhabitants are called Aubaredeois and Aubaredeoises .

Aubarède is located approximately 14 kilometers east-northeast of Tarbes in its catchment area ( Aire urbaine ) in the historic county of Bigorre .

Aubarède is located in the catchment area of the Adour River on the right bank of the Arros , one of its tributaries, which at the same time forms the natural border with the neighboring municipality of Cabanac to the west. The Seignac, the Ruisseau de Larrevezi and the Ruisseau des Oustaus are tributaries of the Arros. They arise on the territory of the municipality and cross it in a westerly or northwestern direction.

Toponymy
The Occitan name of the community is Avereda. It is derived from the Gascognischen averan ( German hazelnut bush ) with the suffix -etam .

Population development
After records began, the population rose to a peak of around 585 by the first half of the 19th century. In the following period, the size of the community fell to around 160 inhabitants during short recovery phases until the 1980s, before a growth phase that began continues today.
