Lahitte-Toupière is a French commune with 261 inhabitants (as of January 1, 2017) in the Hautes-Pyrénées department in the Occitanie region (before 2016: Midi-Pyrénées ). The municipality belongs to the Arrondissement of Tarbes and the canton of Val d'Adour-Rustan-Madiranais (until 2015: canton of Maubourguet ).

The inhabitants are called Lahipiérois and Lahipiéroises .

Lahitte-Toupière is located about 24 kilometers north of Tarbes in the historic province of Bigorre on the western border with the neighboring department of Pyrénées-Atlantiques .

Population development

After records began, the population rose to a peak of around 620 by the middle of the 19th century. In the following period, the size of the community fell to a low of around 185 inhabitants with short recovery phases until the turn of the millennium, before a phase of growth that began today still persists.
