Layrisse is a French commune with 185 inhabitants (as of January 1, 2017) in the Hautes-Pyrénées department in the Occitanie region (before 2016: Midi-Pyrénées ). The municipality belongs to the Arrondissement of Tarbes and the Canton of Ossun .

The inhabitants are called Layrissois and Layrissoises .

Layrisse is located about eleven kilometers south of Tarbes in its catchment area ( Aire urbaine ) in the historic province of Bigorre .

Population development

After records began, the population rose to a high of around 200 by the first half of the 19th century. In the following period, the size of the community fell to 90 with brief recovery phases up to the 1960s, before a phase of at times strong growth began. that continues today.
