Florian Set (born September 19, 1971 in Schwäbisch Gmünd ) is director of the Europe Center Baden-Württemberg , political scientist and historian.

Life

Florian spent childhood and adolescence in Schwäbisch Gmünd and Waldstetten . At the Scheffold-Gymnasium Schwäbisch Gmünd he graduated from high school. He then studied history , public law and ethnology at the Albert Ludwig University of Freiburg im Breisgau and at Trinity College Dublin in Ireland . In Freiburg, he completed a master’s degree with a historiographical and international law thesis on neutrality in the Second World War in Ireland, Sweden and Switzerland . He then went to the College of Europe in Bruges in Belgium for postgraduate studies in 1997-1998 , from which he completed a Master of Arts in European Political and Administrative Studies. Later he studied business administration at the FernUni Hagen .

Set worked from 1998 to 1999 as a research assistant at the Institute for European Politics in Bonn and from 1999 to 2007 as an educational officer at the Catholic Academy Rhine-Neckar of the Diocese of Speyer in Ludwigshafen am Rhein . Since 2007 he has been the director of the Europa Zentrum Baden-Württemberg - Institute and Academy for European Issues in Stuttgart and since 2008 also lecturer in the field of international studies at the ESB Business School Reutlingen .

Act

At the places where he worked he created several seminar and event concepts as well as publications and handouts in the field of European integration , many of them for use in European political education . As an initiator and author, he was significantly involved in the development of the board game Legislativity - The Game on EU Legislation , a method for the playful conveyance of the ordinary legislative procedure of the EU, which was sold more than 1000 times by mid-2019 and was nominated in 2019 (short list ) of the Kaiser Maximilian Prize for European merits at regional and municipal level of the state of Tyrol and the city of Innsbruck .

In addition to his full-time activity, Sitz dedicated himself to historical research. Age of 23 he received for the regional historical work Mysterious Christental - Historical and Legendary to castle ruins Granegg and Reiterles Chapel 1994 the State Youth Award for home Research Baden-Wuerttemberg 1998, he refuted by research in the Bernese Federal Archives in an essay the thesis of backers of Hitler -Attentäters Georg Elser in Switzerland.
