The University of Antwerp ( Dutch : Universiteit Antwerpen ) is a Belgian university based in Antwerp . With around 20,367 students, it is the third largest university in Flanders .

history

The University of Antwerp emerged in 2003 from the three independent universities Ufsia (Universitaire Faculteiten Sint-Ignatius Antwerpen), RUCA (Rijksuniversitair Centrum Antwerpen) and UIA (Universitaire Instelling Antwerpen). Before that, the individual institutions worked closely together.

In the future, the individual areas are to be grouped as follows: The humanities ( Faculty of Social and Political Science, Faculty of Law, Faculty of Applied Economics, Faculty of Literature and Philosophy) are to be centralized in the city center, in the so-called Stadscampus (formerly Ufsia). The medical faculties (human medicine, pharmacy, biomedicine and veterinary medicine) are to be merged on the Drie Eiken campus (formerly UIA) and the natural science faculties on the Middelheim and Groenenborger campuses (together the former RUCA). As part of these relocations, the largest humanities library in Belgium is being built in the city center.

Faculties

The UA consists of the following faculties :

There are also the following institutes that offer master’s courses:
