The Faculty of Protestant Theology ( Faculté universitaire de Théologie protestante (fr.), Faculteit voor Protestantse Godgeleerdheid (nl.)) Is a university in Brussels , Belgium .

The university awards Bachelor , Master and PhD degrees in Protestant theology. The courses are given in both French and Dutch.

history

The college sees itself as the continuation of the Hervormde Academie te Gent (Reformed Academy Gent, 1578–1584).

Émile Hoyois, Matthieu Schyns and William Thomas taught theology in Brussels during World War II because students could not go abroad to study. The program has been recognized by universities in Paris and Geneva .

In 1950 the college was founded by the Protestant Evangelical Church and the Methodist Church in Belgium (both united as the United Protestant Church of Belgium since 1978 ). In 1955 the Belgian Evangelical Zendingskerk was added. In the beginning they taught at Home Becker , Vleurgatsesteenweg ; However, due to lack of space, they quickly moved to today's premises in Terkamerenlaan .

Thanks to the state recognition, the university can offer academic degrees up to Dr. theol. to lend.
