United Protestant Church of Belgium

The United Protestant Church of Belgium ( Dutch : Verenigde Protestantse Kerk in België (VPKB); French : Église Protestante Unie de Belgique (EPUB)) is a United Church in Belgium . The seat of the church is in Brussels .

The church is a member of the Conference of European Churches (KEK), the Community of Evangelical Churches in Europe (CPCE) and the World Council of Methodist Churches . It is officially recognized by the Administratieve Raad van de Protestants-Evangelische Eredienst / Conseil Administratif du Culte Protestant-Évangélique .

Men and women are ordained in the Church . The church was founded in 1978: as an amalgamation of the Protestant Church of Belgium (which in turn was formed in 1969 as an amalgamation of the Protestant Evangelical Church of Belgium and the Belgian Conference of the United Methodist Church ), the Reformed Church of Belgium and the Belgian Gereformeerde Kerken . It has 45,000 parishioners in 110 parishes, including 70 Walloon, 35 Flemish, 3 German and 2 English speaking, with 85 pastors. The blessing of same-sex couples are allowed in the church.
