The Europa Zentrum Baden-Württemberg is an institution for European political education in Germany with its headquarters in Stuttgart .

structure

The Europa Zentrum Baden-Württemberg works on a non-profit and non-partisan basis , mainly in Baden-Württemberg , but also works in the context of international projects, especially in the Franco-German context, but also, for example, within the framework of the EU Danube Region Strategy Europe-wide or internationally. It is a recognized educational institution of the German Federal Agency for Civic Education . The legal entity is the non-profit development association Europa Zentrum Baden-Württemberg e. V., who also runs the Europe Direct Information Center Stuttgart. The operational work is carried out by a professional full-time team, supported by freelance workers and interns. Association bodies are: Board of Directors, General Assembly and Advisory Board. For several years, the latter has traditionally been chaired by the current Minister for Europe of the state of Baden-Württemberg, regardless of the political party.

history

Founded in 1976 in Tübingen as the Europa Zentrum Tübingen, the Europa Zentrum Tübingen moved to Stuttgart at the turn of the year 1998/1999, where it was renamed the Europa Zentrum Baden-Württemberg. The headquarters were initially at Nadlerstrasse 4. Since spring 2017, the headquarters and offices of the Europa Zentrum Baden-Württemberg and Europe Direct Information Center Stuttgart have been located in the “Europahaus” at Kronprinzstrasse 13 in Stuttgart-Mitte.

The Europa Zentrum Baden-Württemberg belongs to the umbrella organizations Society of European Academies , Working Group European Integration , European Movement Baden-Württemberg and European Movement Germany .

financing

As a non-profit association, the Europa Zentrum Baden-Württemberg is not allowed to make a profit. Participation fees for events as well as membership fees and donations cover part of the costs. The other is financed by public grants and project funds (including from the State of Baden-Württemberg, City of Stuttgart, EU, Federal Agency for Civic Education ).

program

The Europa Zentrum Baden-Württemberg offers formats for youth and adult education on European policy (seminars, workshops, lectures, study trips - especially to Brussels, Strasbourg and Luxembourg). It is also the Baden-Wuerttemberg coordination center for the European competition and publishes publications on topics of European integration , for example in its series on Europapolitische Schriften from the Europa Zentrum Baden-Württemberg . It also develops its own methods of European political education. The board game “Legislativity - The Game on EU Legislation”, published in 2017, found widespread dissemination and attention. The motto of the Europa Zentrum is: Education about / for Europe .
