Jan Bergmann

Jan Michael Bergmann (born July 5, 1966 in Stuttgart ) is a German administrative judge and university lecturer .

Life

Jan Michael Bergmann comes from a family of artists and theologians ( Gerhard Gollwitzer ; Helmut Gollwitzer ). He studied law (and Protestant theology ) in Tübingen, Munich, Berlin, Heidelberg and Paris, and graduated in 1991. This was followed in 1994 with a doctorate to become a Dr. jur. with the topic "The Human Image of the European Convention on Human Rights" at the Europa-Institut of Saarland University .

Since 1996 he has been working full-time as a judge in Baden-Württemberg , the longest at the administrative court in Mannheim. He has published mainly in the field of European law and gives lectures and training courses. For the IRZ Foundation he is involved as a “national expert” in the establishment of justice in Eastern Europe. He is volunteer as chairman of the board of the European Center Baden-Württemberg. At the University of Stuttgart he teaches as an honorary professor in the fields of law and politics of the European Union as well as public law.
