Vidouze ( Occitan Vidosa ) is a southern French municipality in the Hautes-Pyrénées department with 241 inhabitants (as of January 1, 2017) in the Occitanie region .
Location and climate
The municipality of Vidouze is located in the foothills of the Pyrenees at an altitude of about 350 m . The nearest city, Tarbes , is about 35 km southeast. The climate is temperate to warm; Rain (approx. 850 mm / year) falls mainly in the winter half-year.

Because of the rural exodus triggered by the phylloxera crisis in viticulture at the beginning of the 20th century and the increasing mechanization of agriculture , the population of the community has steadily declined since the end of the 19th century.

The community is largely flat and oriented exclusively towards agriculture.
history
Vidouze has probably been part of the former Bigorre county since the 9th or 10th century . The old place name Bidose is first documented in the 11th century.
Attractions
- The 19th century parish church is surrounded by the former local cemetery and has a bell tower (clocher) .
- On the outskirts there is a covered washing area ( lavoir ) .
- Arriagosse
- The church, built in the 17th century in the hamlet of Arriagosse approx. 3 km to the south, has a roofed bell gable (clocher mur) on two buttresses in front of the facade , which at the same time stabilize the masonry.
