Mairie Organ

Organ is a French commune with 44 inhabitants (as of January 1, 2017) in the Hautes-Pyrénées department in the Occitanie region (until 2015 Midi-Pyrénées ). The municipality is part of the Tarbes arrondissement and the Pays de Trie et Magnoac municipal association founded in 2016 . The residents are called organais .

Town center

The municipality of Organ is located in the north of the plateau of Lannemezan in the foothills of the Pyrenees , about 58 kilometers east of the capital of the department Tarbes and 20 kilometers north of Lannemezan . The Gèze , a tributary of the Gers, flows through the 2.73 km² municipal area . The streams in the west of the municipality drain over the brine to the Petite Baïse , all the rivers mentioned belong to the catchment area of the Garonne . Forest dominates the west of the municipality and on the slopes to the right of the Gèze. Several hamlets belong to Organ. The most greeted are Dumont, Marquis, Méné, Bataille, Deffès, Garmounet, Siame and Sainte-Roman .

Organ is surrounded by the neighboring communities of Castelnau-Magnoac in the northeast, Cizos in the east and southeast, Betpouy in the west and Barthe in the northwest.

Place name

The place name developed from the Latin Organo ( Domain des Orgus , 1383/1384) and the same name in 1405 and through the 15th century to the organ used for the first time on a Cassini map from the end of the 18th century , which is still valid today.

history

Organ belonged in the Ancien Régime to the Sénéchaussée of Auch with a local seigneurie within the Vallée de Magnoac as part of the Pays des Quatre-Vallées .

In the municipality of Castelnau-Magnoac , four kilometers away , the D632 (from Tarbes to Toulouse ) and D929 (from Auch to Lannemezan ) intersect . In Lannemezan, 20 kilometers away, there are connections to the A64 autoroute . The closest train station is also in Lannemezan.
