Bordères-sur-l'Échez is a French commune in the department of Hautes-Pyrénées in the region Occitan (previously Midi-Pyrénées ). It is located in the Arrondissement of Tarbes and is the capital of the canton of Bordères-sur-l'Échez .
Bordères-sur-l'Échez has 5227 inhabitants (as of January 1, 2017) on 15.95 square kilometers and is located in the Bigorre about two and a half kilometers west of the Adour . The parallel tributary Échez flows through the village itself .
The place was originally a Gallo-Roman settlement. In 1118 the place was placed under the protection of the Knights Templar . The headquarters of the Knights Templar was destroyed. After the destruction of the Knights Templar, the Order of Malta followed .
