Cabanac is a French commune with 290 inhabitants (as of January 1, 2017) in the Hautes-Pyrénées department in the Occitanie region (before 2016: Midi-Pyrénées ). The municipality belongs to the Arrondissement of Tarbes and the canton of Les Coteaux (until 2015: canton of Pouyastruc ).

The inhabitants are called Cabanacais and Cabanacaises .

Cabanac is located about 13 kilometers east-northeast of Tarbes in its catchment area ( Aire urbaine ) in the historic province of Bigorre .

Population development

After records began, the population rose to a peak of 430 by the middle of the 19th century. Subsequently, the number of residents fell to around 195 with brief recovery periods by the 1970s before a period of growth began that continues to this day.
