Barthe is a French commune with 18 inhabitants (as of January 1, 2017) in the Hautes-Pyrénées department in the Occitanie region (before 2016: Midi-Pyrénées ). The municipality belongs to the Arrondissement of Tarbes and the canton of Les Coteaux (until 2015: canton Castelnau-Magnoac ).
The inhabitants are called Barthois and Barthoises .

Barthe is located about 32 kilometers east of Tarbes in the historic province of Quatre-Vallées on the northeastern edge of the department.

Barthe lies in the catchment area of the Garonne River .
The Sole , a tributary of the Petite Baïse , crosses the territory of the municipality.
Toponymy
The Occitan name of the community is Barta. The Occitan word in Gascon means wetlands with scrub on the bank of a river. It has very distant, pre-Latin roots.

Population development
After records began, the number of inhabitants rose to a high of around 95 by the middle of the 19th century. In the period that followed, the size of the community fell to this day with short periods of recovery.
