La Vallée de l'Arros et des Baïses is a French constituency in the arrondissements of Bagnères-de-Bigorre and Tarbes , in the Hautes-Pyrénées department and in the Occitanie region ; its main town is Tournay .

history

The canton was created when the French cantons were redistributed in 2015. Its communes come from the former cantons of Tournay (all 27 communes), Lannemezan (17 of the 25 communes), Galan (all 11 communes), Bagnères-de-Bigorre (10 of the 19 municipalities) and La Barthe-de-Neste (6 of the 19 municipalities). Today there are only 70 parishes left, as Benqué and Molère merged on January 1, 2017 to form the new Benqué-Molère parish.

In the first ballot on March 22, 2015, none of the four candidate pairs achieved an absolute majority. In the runoff election on March 29, 2015, the team Joëlle Abadie (DVG) / André Fourcade (PRG) won against Camille Denagiscarde / Elisa Sabathier-Panofré (both DVDs ) with 63.50% of the vote (turnout: 59.70%) .
