Galan ( identical in Occitan ) is a municipality with 714 inhabitants (as of January 1, 2017) in the French department of Hautes-Pyrénées in the Occitanie region . It belongs to the canton of La Vallée de l'Arros et des Baïses (until 2015: canton Galan ) in the arrondissement of Bagnères-de-Bigorre . The residents call themselves Galanais .

geography

Galan is about 26 kilometers east of Tarbes on the Petite Baïse . Neighboring communities are Libaros in the north and west, Tournous-Devant in the north, Sabarros in the northeast, Recurt in the east, Galez in the south, Bonrepos in the south and southwest and Montastruc in the west and southwest.
