Génos is a French commune with 137 inhabitants (as of January 1, 2017) in the Hautes-Pyrénées department in the Occitanie region . It belongs to the arrondissement of Bagnères-de-Bigorre and the canton of Neste, Aure et Louron .

geography

The municipality is located in the historic province of Bigorre , in the Pays d'Aure countryside , about 40 kilometers south-east of Bagnères-de-Bigorre in the Vallée du Louron . The location of the municipality's capital is on the left flank of the valley called Vallée du Louron , at the source of the Neste du Louron river . The majority of the municipal area is predominantly impassable mountainous terrain at high altitudes and forests up to 2000 meters. As this is hardly populated, the overall population density is extremely low.

The municipality's capital is on the river Lastie , which flows into the Neste du Louron near Arreau .
