It belongs to the arrondissement of Bagnères-de-Bigorre and the canton of Neste, Aure et Louron (until 2015 vielle-Aure ). The inhabitants are called Guchanais .

Guchan is surrounded by the neighboring communities of Bazus-Aure in the north, Grailhen in the east, Camparan in the south and south-east, Bourisp in the south, vielle-Aure in the west and south-west and Guchen in the west and north-west.
