Bordères-Louron ( Occitan : Bordèras de Loron ) is a French commune with 155 inhabitants (as of January 1, 2017) in the Hautes-Pyrénées department in the Occitania region (previously Midi-Pyrénées ). Administratively it belongs to the arrondissement of Bagnères-de-Bigorre . It was the capital of the canton of Bordères-Louron , but is now part of the canton of Neste, Aure et Louron . The residents call themselves "Borderais"
geography
The municipality is located in the historic province of Bigorre , in the Pays d'Aure , about 42 kilometers southeast of Bagnères-de-Bigorre in the Vallée du Louron . The municipality's capital is in the valley called Vallée du Louron , at the source of the Neste du Louron river . The majority of the municipal area is predominantly impassable mountainous terrain at high altitudes and forests up to 2000 meters. As this is hardly populated, the overall population density is extremely low.

The municipality's capital is on the Neste du Louron River . The majority of the municipal area is predominantly impassable mountainous terrain at high altitudes and forests up to 2000 meters. As this is hardly populated, the overall population density is extremely low.
history
The municipality was created in 1972 through the merger of the municipalities "Bordères-Louron" and "Ilhan". The latter no longer had enough population to remain independent.

The development of the population is known from censuses that have been carried out since 1793. In the 21st century, censuses are conducted every five years in municipalities with fewer than 10,000 inhabitants, and every year in larger cities. The figures in between are official estimates.

administration
From March 1995 to 2004 Charles Ghirardi was mayor (maire). He was followed by Marc Fanès. Alain Marsalle has been mayor since March 2008.
Attractions
The municipality has several cultural monuments.
- "Église Saint-Germé d'Ilhan" ( German : "Parish Church of St. Germé in Ilhan"), Romanesque church from the 12th and 13th centuries with alterations from the 16th century
- "Église Notre-Dame de l'Assomption" (German: "Church of Our Lady of the Assumption"), built in the 19th century
- "Wall remains of a castle" that was built in the 13th century and destroyed in a fire in 1740
