Gourgue is a French commune with 62 inhabitants (as of January 1, 2017) in the Hautes-Pyrénées department in the Occitanie region (before 2016: Midi-Pyrénées ). The municipality belongs to the arrondissement of Bagnères-de-Bigorre and the canton of La Vallée de l'Arros et des Baïses (until 2015: canton of Lannemezan ).

The inhabitants are called Gourgais and Gourgais .

Gourgue is located about twelve kilometers northeast of Bagnères-de-Bigorre in the historic vice-county of Nébouzan .

Population development

After records began, the number of inhabitants rose to a high of around 185 by the second half of the 19th century. In the following period, the size of the community fell to around 45 inhabitants until the 1960s, with intermittent recovery phases, before it stabilized at this level . There has been a slight upward trend since the beginning of the 21st century.
