The municipality belongs to the Arrondissement of Bagnères-de-Bigorre (until 2016: Arrondissement Tarbes ) and the canton of La Vallée de l'Arros et des Baïses (until 2015: Canton Galan ).

Population development
After records began, the population rose to a peak of 865 by the middle of the 19th century. In the period that followed, the size of the community fell to one by the first decade of the 21st century, especially due to the break-away of the Houeydets community Low of around 110 before a phase of moderate growth set in.

Personalities
Barthélemy Dominique Jacques Armand, marquis de Castelbajac, born on June 12, 1781 in Ricaud , died on April 3, 1864 at Caumont Castle in Cazaux-Savès , was a general in the coalition wars , and later a senator and ambassador to Russia in the Second Empire .
