Izaux is a French commune with 202 inhabitants (as of January 1, 2017) in the Hautes-Pyrénées department in the Occitanie region . It belongs to the Arrondissement of Bagnères-de-Bigorre and the municipality association Plateau de Lannemezan .

geography

Izaux is located on the Neste and the parallel water distributor Canal de la Neste about six kilometers south of Lannemezan and 20 kilometers southeast of Tarbes . The village of Izaux and the district of Pénart extend on a long ridge between the Neste and the Neste Canal at around 600 meters above sea level. The district of Le Bas d'Izaux lies on the banks of the Neste at 535 m. The highest point in the municipality is the mountain Le Mont in the southeastern tip at 809 m above sea level. Izaux is surrounded by the neighboring communities of La Barthe-de-Neste in the north, Montoussé in the east, Saint-Arroman in the southeast, Lortet in the south, Labastide in the southwest (point of contact) and Avezac-Prat-Lahitte in the west.

Economy and Infrastructure

There are eight farms in the municipality of Izaux (cereal cultivation, horse and cattle breeding).

Izaux is located on the main road D 929 from Lannemezan to Saint-Lary-Soulan . Five kilometers north of Izaux there is a connection to the A 64 autoroute from Toulouse to Pau . The train station in the nearby town of Lannemezan is on the Toulouse – Bayonne railway line .
