Bourisp is a French commune with 163 inhabitants (as of January 1, 2017) in the Hautes-Pyrénées department in the Occitanie region (previously Midi-Pyrénées ). It belongs to the arrondissement of Bagnères-de-Bigorre and to the canton of Neste, Aure et Louron (previously vielle-Aure ).

The municipality's capital is in the Vallée d'Aure , through which the Neste d'Aure River runs. The place is about 50 km southeast of Lourdes . The community has an extremely low population density, partly due to its altitude.

Notre-Dame church

The municipality has several cultural monuments that are classified as Monument historique .

  • Église de la Nativité-de-la-Sainte-Vierge ( German : Church of the Birth of Mary ): The church from the 13th century has remarkable wall paintings from the 16th century. These show the “ Seven Deadly Sins ” (pride, greed, gluttony, lust, anger, envy and indolence), which show in the form of seven ladies in historical costumes with animals and demons.
  • Chapelle Notre Dame de Sescas ( German : Chapel to Our Lady )
