Lutilhous is a French commune with 223 inhabitants (as of January 1, 2017) in the Hautes-Pyrénées department in the Occitanie region (before 2016: Midi-Pyrénées ). The municipality belongs to the arrondissement of Bagnères-de-Bigorre and the canton of La Vallée de l'Arros et des Baïses (until 2015: canton of Lannemezan ).

The inhabitants are called Lutilhousains and Lutilhousainnes .

Lutilhous is located about 16 kilometers northeast of Bagnères-de-Bigorre in the historic vice-county of Nébouzan .

Population development

After records began, the population rose to a peak of around 335 by the second half of the 19th century. In the following period, the size of the community fell to around 135 inhabitants, with intermittent recovery phases by the 1980s, before a growth phase that began continues today.

The Autoroute A64 , called La Pyrénéenne , touches the western municipality, but without a direct exit to the place. The closest exit 15 is about five kilometers away and serves the neighboring municipality of Capvern.
