Galez is a French commune with 182 inhabitants (as of January 1, 2017) in the Hautes-Pyrénées department in the Occitanie region (before 2016: Midi-Pyrénées ). The municipality belongs to the Arrondissement of Bagnères-de-Bigorre (until 2016: Arrondissement Tarbes ) and the canton of La Vallée de l'Arros et des Baïses (until 2015: Canton Galan ).

The inhabitants are called Galézais and Galézaises .

Galez is located about 25 kilometers northeast of Bagnères-de-Bigorre and about 27 kilometers east of Tarbes in the historic vice-county of Nébouzan .

Population development

After records began, the population rose to a peak of around 395 by the middle of the 19th century. In the period that followed, the size of the community fell to a low of around 135 in the first decade of the 21st century, before a Phase with at times strong growth ended.
