Bourg-de-Bigorre is a French commune with 197 inhabitants (as of January 1, 2017) in the Hautes-Pyrénées department in the Occitanie region (before 2016: Midi-Pyrénées ). The municipality belongs to the arrondissement of Bagnères-de-Bigorre and the canton of La Vallée de l'Arros et des Baïses (until 2015: canton of Lannemezan ).
The inhabitants are called Bourgeais and Bourgeaises .

Bourg-de-Bigorre is located about ten kilometers east-northeast of Bagnères-de-Bigorre in the historic vice-county of Nébouzan .

Population development
After records began, the population rose to a high of around 800 by the first half of the 19th century. In the following period, the size of the community fell to a low of around 175 with brief recovery phases by the 1990s. A phase one followed Up and down around a population of around 190, which continues to this day.

Bourg-de-Bigorre is located in the AOC zones of the Porc noir de Bigorre pig breed and the Jambon noir de Bigorre ham .

The municipality has a public pre-school and elementary school with 50 students in the 2019/2020 school year.
sport and freetime
- The long-distance hiking trail GR 78, called La voie des Piémonts , leads from Carcassonne to Saint-Jean-Pied-de-Port also through the center of Bourg-de-Bigorre. It is considered the Camino de Santiago alongside the four main routes in France.
- The regional long-distance hiking trail GR de Pays Tour des Baronnies de Bigorre runs parallel to the GR 79 and also leads through the center of the municipality.
