Montsérié is a French commune with 80 inhabitants (as of January 1, 2017) in the Hautes-Pyrénées department in the Occitanie region (before 2016: Midi-Pyrénées ). The municipality belongs to the arrondissement of Bagnères-de-Bigorre and the canton of La Vallée de la Barousse (until 2015: canton of Saint-Laurent-de-Neste ).

The inhabitants are called Montsériérais and Montsériéraises .

Montsérié is about 23 kilometers east of Bagnères-de-Bigorre .

Population development

After records began, the population rose to a peak of around 335 by the middle of the 19th century. In the period that followed, the size of the community fell to around 45 inhabitants during short recovery phases until the 1960s, before stabilizing on this. There has been some growth recently.

sport and freetime

The GR 78 long-distance hiking trail, called La voie des Piémonts , leads from Carcassonne to Saint-Jean-Pied-de-Port and also passes through the center of the municipality. It is considered the Camino de Santiago alongside the four main routes in France.
