Place name
The spellings Hotaget and Hautiget have been handed down from the years 1790 and 1801 . Hautaget is already mentioned on a Cassini map from the late 18th century . The name comes from the Gaskognischen ( haut = high ) and haget stands for beech . The Latin terms altus (= high) and fagetum (= beech) can be seen as the origin .
