Bazus-Neste is a French commune with 59 inhabitants (as of January 1, 2017) in the Hautes-Pyrénées department in the Occitanie region (before 2016: Midi-Pyrénées ). The municipality belongs to the arrondissement of Bagnères-de-Bigorre and the canton of Neste, Aure et Louron (until 2015: canton of La Barthe-de-Neste ).
The inhabitants are called Bazusiens and Bazusiennes .

Bazus-Neste is located in the catchment area of the Garonne River on the right bank of the Neste , one of its tributaries.
Toponymy
The Occitan name of the municipality is Basús de Nestès. The origin of the name is unclear. It could come from a proper name , such as Badusius or Badius , along with an Aquitaine suffix .

Population development
After the records began, the number of inhabitants rose to a maximum of around 300 by the middle of the 19th century. In the following period, the size of the community decreased to around 40 inhabitants during short recovery phases by the first decade of the 21st century, before a recovery phase began. which continues to this day.

Attractions
- Saint Blaise parish church. Inside it hides a statue made of painted and gilded wood from the end of the 13th or beginning of the 14th century depicting Mary and the baby Jesus . It has been registered as a Monument historique since November 9, 1999 .

Bazus-Neste is located in the AOC zones of the Porc noir de Bigorre pig breed and the Jambon noir de Bigorre ham .
sport and freetime
The long-distance hiking trail GR 105 from Lortet to Port d'Ourdissétou also leads through the center of Ancizan. It is an alternative route to a parallel route to the Via Tolosana , one of the four Camino de Santiago in France.
