Pouzac is a French commune with 1,112 inhabitants (as of January 1, 2017) in the Hautes-Pyrénées department in the Occitanie region . It belongs to the arrondissement of Bagnères-de-Bigorre and the canton of La Haute-Bigorre .
geography
The municipality is located in the historic province of Bigorre , in the valley of the Adour River , around 17 kilometers southeast of Tarbes and three kilometers northwest of the administrative capital Bagnères-de-Bigorre . Neighboring municipalities to Pouzac are:
- Ordizan in the northeast,
- Hauban in the east,
- Bagnères-de-Bigorre in the south,
- Labassère in the southwest and
- Trébons in the northwest.
All major transport links run through the Adour Valley, such as the D935 and D8 département roads and the railway line from Tarbes to Bagnères-de-Bigorre.
Hydrography
The municipality is crossed by the Adour , while in the village of Pouzac itself, the Gailleste and Anou streams flow into each other and later reach the Adour. The Arrêt-Darré river rises on the eastern border of the municipality , which initially flows into the Arros , but which in turn also tends towards the Adour.
