José María Higareda (born June 16, 1968 in Guadalajara , Jalisco ), also known by the nickname El Chema , is a retired Mexican football player on the position of defender .

Life

"El Chema" Higareda began his professional career in the 1989/90 season at his hometown club Universidad de Guadalajara , where he was under contract until its withdrawal from the first division at the end of the 1993/94 season .

He moved to Club Necaxa , for which he scored six goals in his first season in 1994/95 (four of them between the first and tenth matchday alone); more than in any other season. He also had his most successful time with the Necaxistas , winning a total of three championship titles before moving to Puebla FC in the winter of 2000/01. In the second half of 2002 Higareda was officially in the squad of San Luis FC , for which he did not play a single game. He returned to Necaxa in early 2003, where he ended his active career in spring 2005.

National team

His international career in the service of the Mexican national team ran in two stages: first, he played four games between October 11, 1995 (2: 1 against Saudi Arabia) and December 6, 1995 (1: 2 against Slovenia). His other five international appearances completed Higareda between February 13, 2000 (4-0 against Trinidad and Tobago) and September 20, 2000 (2-0 against Ecuador).
