Viel-Aure ( Occitan : Vièla ) is a French commune with 330 inhabitants (as of January 1, 2017) in the Hautes-Pyrénées department in the Occitania region . It belongs to the arrondissement of Bagnères-de-Bigorre and the canton of Neste, Aure et Louron (until 2015: canton vielle-Aure ).
The exclave Le Néouvielle , which is connected by a hiking trail, belongs to the municipality .

Viel-Aure is located about 27 kilometers south-southeast of Bagnères-de-Bigorre . It is surrounded by the neighboring communities of Bagnères-de-Bigorre in the north and northwest, Aulon in the north, Guchen in the north and northeast, Guchan in the northeast, Bourisp in the east, Sailhan in the southeast, Saint-Lary-Soulan and Vignec in the south as well Barèges to the west and north-west.
