Rayane Roumane (born September 11, 2000 in Montreuil , Seine-Saint-Denis ) is a French tennis player .
Career
Roumane's parents, Norsalan and Karima, are both Algerians .
In his only two games on the ITF Junior Tour in 2017 and 2018 , he lost his match at the beginning of the French Open for Juniors.
In 2014, Roumane started playing professional tournaments. Here he initially only played those from the ITF Future Tour , on which he reached a semi-final in 2015 for the first time. This year he also made it into the top 1000 in the world rankings for the first time . In 2016 and 2017 he did not succeed; Only in 2018 did he reach two more semifinals and finished the year in 910th place. At his first tournament of the higher endowed ATP Challenger Tour in Lille , he won two matches, including against the world number 137. Antoine Hoang and was eliminated in the round of 16. In August the Frenchman won his first Future title and reached his first Challenger quarter-finals in Cassis , which he lost to Jo-Wilfried Tsonga . In Metz , Roumane received a wildcard for the individual competition from the tournament officials and thus played his first match on the ATP Tour . He lost in two sets against the later finalist Aljaž Bedene . His biggest win so far was in qualifying for the Rolex Paris Masters at the end of the year. He won against the Serb Miomir Kecmanović , who was in 55th position, and thus for the first time against a top 100 player. In November Roumane reached number 358, his highest value in the world rankings.
