St. Elisabeth (Riegelsberg)
The St. Elisabeth Church was a Roman Catholic branch church of the Trier diocese in Riegelsberg in Saarland . It belonged to the parish of St. Joseph .
history
The Church of St. Elisabeth at the brick street in Hutter Hilschbach was in in 1969 to 1971 after the plans of architect Albert Dietz and Bernhard Grothe from Saarbruecken built and on June 18, 1972 consecrated . After the necessary renovation work on the building could no longer be carried out by the parish at the end of the 2000s, the decision was made to give up the branch church. The last service in St. Elisabeth took place on Whit Monday, June 13th 2011, during which the church was profaned. The church building was demolished that same year.
Building description
Exterior
The towerless church of St. Elisabeth had a simple external appearance. The white building with an angled polygonal floor plan was spanned by two equally polygonal pent roofs of different heights. A picture of Saint Elisabeth of Thuringia was embedded in the facade .
Interior
The interior of the church was also simply designed in the colors white and gray. The wide church space was spanned by a sloping wooden ceiling, which had its lowest point at the entrance to the church and increased in height towards the altar wall. The chancel itself was spanned by a second, higher and opposite sloping ceiling. The difference in height at the meeting point of the two roofs was bridged by a clear window area through which the altar wall was illuminated with daylight. Organ and choir singers were given a gallery that was raised only a few steps and separated by a parapet.
organ
The organ was built in 1975 by the Saarland company Hugo Mayer from Heusweiler and is now unchanged in the Catholic parish church of St. Severin in Salzburg . The instrument has 18 stops on two manuals and a pedal. The action mechanism is mechanical, the stop action is electrical. The arrangement of the organ is as follows:
