The Fort Moorwarfen was a fortification to protect the naval port of Wilhelmshaven .

The fort was built as a closed lunette . The facility was designed for two platoons of infantry (~ 80 men). It was east of Jever . To the north, the Great Moorwarder Tief was connected. Today the site of the fort is partially built over with the Jever bypass. The system was 200 meters long and 90 meters wide.

history

Fort Moorwarfen was built before the First World War as an outer fort of the strategically important war port of Wilhelmshaven. The Moorwarfen flak battery was located south of the fort during the First World War, and the Flörenkamp flak battery to the south-east of the fort. During World War II, a 150 cm was here searchlights for naval flak installed. In 1945 the facility was blown up.
