Fort Blauhand
The Fort Blauhand was a fortification to protect the naval port of Wilhelmshaven .
Location and structure
Fort Blauhand is located southwest of Blauhand . It was built as a closed bezel . The facility was designed for two platoons of infantry (~ 80 men). The system was 180 meters long and 120 meters wide. Today the southwest part of the moat is still preserved.
history
Fort Blauhand was built in 1915/16 during the First World War . To the north of the facility there were still three batteries during World War I, the Ellens flak battery, the Blauhand flak battery and the Blauhand battery. During the Second World War it was reactivated as a Blauhand anti-aircraft battery for the air defense of Wilhelmshaven .
