The Fort Crildumersiel was a fortification to protect the naval port of Wilhelmshaven .

Location and structure

The fort was built as a closed lunette . The ground plan of Fort Crildumersiel approaches a circle. It is located about 50 meters east of the Hooksiel-Crildumersiel road. The diameter of the system, which is surrounded by a graft , is 120 meters. The graft is about 5 meters wide. There was a large bunker inside the facility. Today the property is privately owned.

history

Fort Crildumersiel was built in the second half of the 19th century as an outer fort of the strategically important war port of Wilhelmshaven. The Crildumersiel command post was in the facility. In the Second World War here was a light flak .
