Construction of Fort Stollhamm. Fort Nordendergroden was probably built in a similar way.
Position of the forts to protect Wilhelmshaven.

Fort Nordendergroden was about 160 meters long. Today a parcel of the site is still recognizable and wooded. Part of the defensive trench has also been preserved. Due to its location directly on the dike, for reasons of logistics it can be assumed that the structure of the fort was similar to that of Fort Stollhammerdeich . This was connected directly to the dike and had an infantry position on the dike crown, it was protected at the rear by a moat.

history

The fort was built before or during the First World War to protect Wilhelmshaven. During the First World War there were four batteries north of the fort: the battery Dangast-West, the battery Dangast-Ost, the battery Dangast-Schule and the battery Wehgast. All batteries were implemented as earth positions. The facility was designed for two platoons of infantry (~ 80 men). A division of the naval flak was probably stationed during the Second World War .
