Fort Vareler harbor

The Fort Vareler port was a fortress to protect the naval port of Wilhelmshaven .

The sea dike near Varel. The fort was located where the right wood is today.

The infantry work was located about 500 meters north of the Vareler lock . Due to its location on the dike, it seems reasonable to assume that the facility was integrated into the dike, similar to Fort Stollhammerdeich .

history

The infantry plant was built from 1914 to 1915. The system consisted, among other things, of a large elongated bunker, which was positioned in a northwest-southeast direction. During the Second World War the Flakbatterie Vareler Hafen was set up here.
