The Fort Iffens was a fortification to protect the naval port of Wilhelmshaven .

The fort is located directly north of the Hayenschlooter Sieltiefs near Iffens . It was built as a closed bezel . The facility was designed for two platoons of infantry (~ 80 men). It has a length of 150 meters and a width of 90 meters. To the north, the complex is protected by a semicircular ditch. The southern area of ​​the facility has been destroyed.

history

Fort Iffens was built after the Franco-German War in 1870/71. In the Second World War it was probably used for Wilhelmshaven's air defense. Today the area is forested.
