history

Riplap, Jelgen, Melkschap, Osterhausen, Beckmannsfeld, Mitteldeich and Stollhammerdeich belong to Iffens. The first mention of Iffens was in 1315. In the 14th century the farmers of Iffens lost their western part due to the collapse of the Jade Bay . In 1638 a one-class school was opened, which in 1855 had 49 students. It was closed in the summer of 1966. Beckmannsfeld was a hereditary interest good. Count Anton I von Oldenburg had the Hayenschloot dyed in 1566. Fort Iffens was built near Iffens during the First World War .
