history

Seevernser Wisch, Seevernser Mitteldeich, Bree, Rothenhahn, Pump, Sommergatt, Quersack and Dükerweg belong to the farming community. Seeverns was mentioned for the first time in 1558 on a tombstone of an "Ulrick Haiese to Seversen" in Langwarden. The first school was founded in 1643, the first teacher was Dierich Abbeken. In 1855 the school had 33 students and was closed in 1947. Until 1967 the students went to Langwarden, then to Tossens . There was a great fire in 1793. The place name “Pump” goes back to a pump that drained the lost land near Hayenschloot in 1317 during the back dike.
