The Fort Hohemey was a fortification to protect the naval port of Wilhelmshaven .

The fort was built as a closed lunette . The facility was designed for two platoons of infantry (~ 80 men). It was north of Horsten, west of the Friedeburger Tief and Altgödens, on today's B 436 .

history

The facility was built before or during the First World War . Fort Hohemey had a central infantry plant and an ammunition bunker. To the east of the fort were the Hohemey battery and an anti-aircraft battery during the First World War. During the Second World War , the Hohemey anti-aircraft battery was installed in the fort , and a 12.8 cm battery was installed to the west of the facility later in the war .
