The left wing battery was part of the Wilhelmshaven fortress plan, a battery to protect the Prussian war port in Wilhelmshaven .

The left wing battery was located directly north of Fort Heppens, which was also built to protect Wilhelmshaven . It was located behind the former Heppens temporary battery that it was supposed to replace.

history

Construction of the facility began in 1874 and construction work was completed two years later.

Armament

Overall, the battery had an armament of ten guns, which were arranged between hollow cross beams . Two guns covered the flanks. Of these, four were type 28 KL / 35 and four were type 28 HL / 12 .
