Arnos is a French municipality with 113 inhabitants (at January 1, 2017) in the department of Pyrénées-Atlantiques in the region Nouvelle-Aquitaine . The municipality belongs to the Arrondissement of Pau and the canton of Artix et Pays de Soubestre (until 2015: canton of Arthez-de-Béarn ).

The inhabitants are called Arnosiens .

Arnos lies in the catchment area of ​​the Adour River . The Aubin , a tributary of the Luy de Béarn , forms the southern municipal boundary.

history

The discovery of barrows from the Iron Age and fragments of mosaic on the site of a Roman military camp show an early settlement of the area. From the 16th to the 18th centuries, Arnos belonged to Boumourt and was listed as Arnas on the Carte de Cassini in the 18th century.
