The Canton of Arthez-de-Béarn was 2015 a French canton in the Arrondissement Pau in the Pyrénées-Atlantiques in the region Aquitaine . The last representative in the General Council of the Département was Philippe Garcia from 1998 to 2015.
history
The canton was founded on March 4, 1790 as part of the establishment of the départements as part of what was then the "Orthez District".
With the establishment of the arrondissements on February 17, 1800, the canton was redesigned as part of what was then the Orthez arrondissement.
On September 10, 1926, the Orthez arrondissement was dissolved and the canton was added to the Pau arrondissement.

geography
The canton bordered in the north on the cantons of Amou in the arrondissement of Dax and Hagetmau in the arrondissement of Mont-de-Marsan , both in the Landes department , in the east on the canton of Arzacq-Arraziguet , in the southeast on the canton of Lescar , in the southwest on the canton of Monein in Arrondissement Oloron-Sainte-Marie and in the west to the cantons of Lagor and Orthez .
