the Pyrénées-Atlantiques department

The canton Anglet is a French constituency in Pyrénées-Atlantiques in the region Nouvelle-Aquitaine . Its territory is in the Arrondissement of Bayonne , its main town is Anglet .

history

A new territorial division of the cantons of the Pyrenees-Atlantiques department has been in effect since the 2015 elections in the department. It is defined by the decree of February 25, 2014 in application of the laws of May 17, 2013. From these elections on, the representatives of the Départementrat are elected for six years in a Romance majority vote in up to two ballots in the cantons, with each canton sending an elected couple of different sex to the Départementrat. Participation in a possible runoff election requires 12.5% of the votes in the first ballot. The number of cantons in a department is reduced to half the number of cantons on January 1, 2013, rounded up to an odd number if the division results in an even number. Therefore, the cantons in the département had to be redesigned, with the number of cantons reduced from 52 to 27.

The canton of Anglet was newly formed from part of the municipality of Anglet. It covers the area of the municipality south and east of the following streets from the municipality boundary to Biarritz to the municipality boundary to Bayonne :

  • Avenue de Biarritz,
  • Rue Sainte-Marguerite,
  • Avenue des Cyprès,
  • Rue des Fleuristes,
  • Allée des Camélias,
  • Rue des Primevères,
  • Rue de Hirigogne,
  • Rue des Cinq-Cantons
